Among the many decking material options available, South Pacific Redwood is in a class of its own. It’s class 1 durability rating and competitive price gives this tropical hardwood an edge on other comparable species. South Pacific Redwood is a top option for many outdoor applications, including decking. Our decking is kiln-dried to minimize shrinking and warping after installation. Nova’s South Pacific Redwood is covered under our 25 year warranty and has a service life expectancy of 50+ years above ground.
Due to its extreme density and close grain structure, South Pacific Redwood, aka Torem, is extremely difficult to finish with oil-based products. We recommend water popping to help the finish penetrate more thoroughly. See our blog article here: Water Popping Hardwood before Finishing to Achieve Superior Results for more information on this technique. But even with perfect application technique, our experience has shown that finishes will wear more quickly on South Pacific Redwood than just about any other species. Nova's ExoShield premium wood stain is still the best option for finishing South Pacific Redwood, but frequent reapplication will be necessary to maintain the finish. We recommend a maintenancle of twice per year, once in late Spring and once in early Fall. By pairing regular cleaning and reapplication of the finish you can ensure your South Pacific Redwood will retain its beauty for years to come.

TOREM & EXOSHIELD BLACK WALNUT - INCREDIBLY DEEP & DARK
We think that Torem looks outstand with our ExoShield Black Walnut Tung Oil stain. The deep natural burgandy of the Torem looks fantastic with the deep red-black hues of our darkest and richest wood stain. High density woods such as Torem really benefit from a dark stain full of pigment to help protect against UV.
South Pacific Redwood is in the same durability class as Ipe, making it a great alternative. Nova’s South Pacific Redwood is Lacey Act approved and comes with a V-Legal Document license which is at the heart of Indonesia's timber legality verification system.
