South Pacific Redwood, Manilkara Species Information
Manilkara is a close cousin of south american Massaranduba, also known as Bulletwood. Extremely high in density, this hardwood that we sell as South Pacific Redwood is more stable and much less prone to checking than the Massaranduba. It's a beautiful species of wood that's naturally durable and has a stunning red color. A perfect wood for decking and siding.
Grading for South Pacific Redwood, Manilkara
Std & Btr grade material is color matched in most species of wood. This is the highest grade available in our Southeast Asian decking items. No open defects are allowed on at least one face. Small tight knots, occasional pin holes, and other small non-structural defects are allowed on the back side and edges. The material is all heartwood, allowing an occasional sliver of sapwood on one face and one edge.
