South Pacific Redwood, Manilkara Species Information
Manilkara is a close cousin of south american Massaranduba, also known as Bulletwood. Extremely high in density, this hardwood that we sell as South Pacific Redwood is more stable and much less prone to checking than the Massaranduba. It's a beautiful species of wood that's naturally durable and has a stunning red color. A perfect wood for decking and siding.
Grading for South Pacific Redwood, Manilkara
Select & Better graded material will have a slightly wider color range than Clear. Select & Better will include the full natural color range of the particular specie. Select & Better allows tight knots, burls, and a very few small open defects. Select & Better includes all the natural Clear grade material and has "no prior selection", ie. the best pieces are included and not pulled out.
