The Benefits of Nova Patagonian Rosewood

By Ben Nystrom, 04/17/12

Patagonian Rosewood, also know as Curupau or Curupay, is one of the most popular hardwood flooring materials in the exotic market today. At Nova, we pride ourselves in our high-quality selection of Patagonian Rosewood hardwood flooring. While there are a few different sources for this particular exotic hardwood species, we strongly believe that our selection is the best of the best. Here's why:

Looks

When freshly milled, Patagonian Rosewood is pale with light reddish-brown hue and distinctive black streaks. After exposure, however, the heartwood darkens rapidly to a deep reddish-brown, very similar to Brazilian Cherry. This beautiful dark reddish-brown color adds an air of sophistication to nearly any room. Because Nova hand selects only the finest materials, you can rest assured that the Patagonian Rosewood flooring you'll receive from us will be the most attractive you can find.

Durability

Nova's Patagonian Rosewood is one of the toughest hardwood species available today. With a Janka rating of 3,840 PSI, this species is the hardest wood flooring material you can find. It also has a density of 1,020 KG/m3, well above the density of most domestic hardwood species. These density and hardness ratings make the species naturally resistant to wood rot, moisture, and wood-boring insects. It is also one of the more dimensionally-stable hardwoods we carry.

Consistency What sets Nova's Patagonian Rosewood hardwood flooring apart from other brands is its consistency. We treat our boards with a light stain, which mimics the darker post-oxidized color and eliminates discoloration concerns and complaints. It also makes interior design easier, since homeowners and designers don't have to wait for the boards to darken before they can match it with a specific decor.
Nova stocks Patagonian Rosewood flooring in 3/4" x 3", 4", and 5" widths. Our boards are clear grade and are available in 1' - 7' lengths. The product is only available prefinished.
